Nompilo Sithole

Nompilo Sithole has over 14 years of experience in financial management, risk oversight, and auditing within the South African public sector. She began her career working across several KZN government departments, including Health, Public Works, and Social Development, gaining valuable exposure to financial operations, compliance, and grant monitoring.

She later joined the Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA) as a trainee auditor and progressed to Audit Senior. While at AGSA, she developed strong expertise in audit methodology, risk assessment, evaluation of internal controls, and compliance with PFMA and MFMA. Her work included auditing various government departments and municipalities, enhancing her understanding of public sector governance and accountability.

Currently, Ms. Sithole serves as Deputy Director: RLED Financial and Risk Management at the KZN EDTEA, where she oversees strategic budgeting, risk management, and financial management for the Regional and Local Economic Development Units. In addition, she acts as the RLED Risk Champion and sits on the EDTEA Risk Champion Committee.

Ms Sithole is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and holds a Master’s degree in Taxation from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where her research focused on tax incentives available to Non-Profit Organisations and their compliance challenges.
